I grew up eating my mama's Crisco-fried delights, and then she "graduated" to corn oil when that became the erl du jour . I don't remember ever using Crisco after leaving the homestead, but I have used corn and peanut. I know I haven't deep-fried anything in twenty-plus years, but for s...

I haven't done an overnight on Amtrak in about 15 years, but the videos of the roomette look pretty good, if not luxurious. They are pricey, however. My last long-haul trip was on the City of New Orleans in 1999 or 2000, and the food was quite good. PaulaRat and I take the train to NYC a couple ti...

No, Panama, I don't see 0-Three Hundred very often any more, either. Luckily, the most common event is when I'm flying over to Europe or back from Cali on the red-eye, and it kinda just slips on by! Well, in reality, I do see it on the mid-slumber trip to the porcelain facilities on many a night, ...

Oh, that does look good, made even better by your crab meat substitution. PaulaRat has yellow squash in the garden, and I think we'll give this a try. I've been a Sara Moulton fan for a long time, too.

Yeah, you rite, roscoe. I certainly don't soak 'em to mush, which is really what macerate means, but it's not really a Marianation, either, because there's no herbs or spices in the hooch. All it is is a simple soak in whiskey for a while. And the leftover soak-juice is tasty, too
