Who said a cat can't go walkies? :o

As of August 31st, Sharky lost his house and surrounding grounds and became an "apartment cat". He stares out the window and watches people walk their dogs all day. This week I adjusted that situation and bought a halter and a leash.

We've been out twice now. He comes when I call, jumps on to the bed, and I put the halter on. He's worn it for several hours at a time and doesn't seem to know it's there. I walk to the door, he follows, I snap on the leash, then out we go. He wonders about for about 20 minutes and then walks back to his own apartment door.

Who said a sixteen-year-old cat can't learn new tricks? 8-)

PS: We haven't met anyone walking a dog yet.

My shop-cat "Boggie", an Arlington animal shelter grad, absolutely freaked out when I tried a leash. Congratulations.

Previous cats in our family, and my (#3) daughter's current cat, also freaked at a leash attempt.

Sharky is the ultimate gentleman. He has never scratched the furniture, jumped on to the kitchen counters for food, or hissed and swung at anybody. He can jump - see his avatar on the piano.

Sharky is still thinking and still learning. Out three times yesterday, including once after dark. Now, whenever I am in the room, after dark, he runs over to the door. The nocturnal thing has kicked in. He is much braver, and wants to venture further, on night walks.

Interesting-- and congrats! But this does give One pause to ponder: Does he 'heist' a leg at fire hydrants?...Anyways, quite 'The Cat's Meow'!
