I am going to start volunteering at the local animal shelter in Terrebonne Parish. I just noticed that it is not far from the house. I do not know how I am going to go in there and not puppynap all the puppies each day. Oh well, I will try. Try not to that is.............................................................

Thats a very good thing! I know recently a local person was arrested for puppy mill in deplorable condition. The rescues looked like Pekes, I waned to go get all 36 of them.

Yes. That is how we operate too. I own two trench coats that I typically wear in NYC in the winter. I am visualizing how many puppies I will be able to smuggle out each day under one of those. I will have to work on that.............................Did you look at the closeup photos of the puppies that they currently have locked up? CopCop may kidnap all of those little dachsunds.

You won't have to smuggle them out if it's anything like the shelter where my wife volunteered. Dogs and cats had minimum weights they had to reach before adoption, and until then the volunteers fostered them at home. Biggest group we had was a mom with four kittens.

Here's Tiger, one of our single fosters, found alone, no mom, no sibs.

Cutie. I grew up with many cats and a few puppies, but my Sweetie is allergic to cats. We are puppy hugger totallers now.

That's wonderful. Good for you.

Volunteering to help animals is a dangerous habit, though.

My wife and I tried to foster rescued kittens. We had a litter where we lost one (poor little thing), kept one, gave another to my MIL, and adopted out one or two.
So out of the ones that survived, we kept half or more in our family. (I can't remember how big the litter was.)

That was the end of our fostering experience.

I hope you can help out where it's needed without bringing home *too* many new friends. :)
