chefairline,
I remember back in the 50's and 60's, there was a New Orleans ice cream plant on Airline Hwy. not far from your Kid Creole location. I don't remember the name but it was a well-known popular local brand. The public could visit a front shop and buy freshly made ice cream very inexpensively. This was before the days of Baskin-Robins and the like. We made frequent trips there. There was a dancing water fountain in front of the building which was colorfully lighted at night. I don't remember if there was a "cow" there or not.
Does anyone remember this?
More trivia - I remember growing up when we traveled my brother and I always asked our parents to stay at the Howard Johnson......because they had 16 flavors of ice cream available for their guests. This was a smart advertising move for Howard Johnsons. They got a lot of business this way offering ice cream to the traveling families with kids.
