As I understand it, Spam was introduced to Hawaii during WW2 by the American servicemen stationed there. It was one of their staple K-ration items. The Hawaiians love it to this day. Here's some more info about this.

Awesome pics as always, Lolly! That coconut custard looks delicious.

My daughter's 11th birthday party this past Saturday was tiki-themed. We had a tiki bar with two blenders doing smoothies, shish-kabobs on the grill, torches, limbo and hula contests, and 30 5th grade girls dressed in grass skirts.

I survived :D

Ya gotta love it when, as Jimmy Buffett sang, the tiki bar is open.

I have fond memories of beach-front bars in South Thailand where we did our best to drink one of every color in the bar menu.

Edited to add: I forgot to remember how much I yoosta like the fog cutters at House of Lee.

Good to "see" you Live Oak! I miss you man! Hard to believe your little girl is 11. I bet that party was a blast!

My son will be thirteen in April and off to Jesuit next year. I can't believe it either.

Glad to see an old forum buddy.
