I have posted about this many times and many places over the years, so much so that Google searches about it turn up my own posts. I miss the baked custard pies more than anything. That was one of the best things I have ever eaten.
I have no idea why they don't do them anymore. They did those nasty mini king cake things this past year.
I was a "baked" guy myself... PINEAPPLE! My Dad love baked custard also.
I remember back in TF days that it was mentioned that the baking ovens became cost-prohibited!... I BLAME IT ON THE MAN-MADE FLOOD (K).

Yes, Katrina did the huge ovens, and the baked pies in. I do not care for the fried, sugar coated pies. They are eaiser to produce, but give me the old 5" baked cherry! Great company, enjoyed working there. I think in 2005, the standard pies were still under $3.00. Amazing!
