I mentioned in an earlier post that I'm working on a new book. I have no trouble finding men to include as Legendary Locals of Metairie but am having a problem finding women. I know there are lots of ladies who have impacted the community through the years -- I'm just drawing a mental block and could use some help.

These "legendary" people do not have to be "famous". They can be local characters, volunteers, do-gooders, etc.

I'll ask my Dad. He is 83 and has great stories of when he lived out here in the 30's. He has a story about a famous baseball player he used to play street ball with. And I love hearing his stories about Metairie High. He used to take the principal's car to the bank and make the bank deposits for him. :D

I know Praline's dad can help you and I have some stuff for you, too. I'll drop it off at the house soon.

I may not be able to get together with you with my mil this week, because I have to go to Vicksburg, and our daughter is going back to Starkville after spending the summer here. If you'd like to meet her on your own, that would be fine with me. For the safety of other Metairians, it's preferable to pick her up.

Thanks, expat. I've got a busy week ahead also. How about next week?
