I have not been around for a while and ducked in to recommend my friend, Tom Franklin, he will be reading from his, award-winning, best seller, CROOKED LETTER, CROOKED LETTER, at Octavia tonight (6/27) at 6:00. He will be reading with the Laura Lippman, Author of the best seller, I'D KNOW YOU ANYWHERE. Please feel free to tell Tom I (Herman King) sent you. You can read my profile of Tom from the December DeSoto Magazine:

Henry, I know you are a reader. I recomend Tom's novel, CROOKED LETTER, CROOKED LETTER. He writes place as a character in a rich prose that makes us forget we are reading. He portrays the small southern town in an honest way, without judgement or agenda. He weaves a great crime drama that won the LA times award for best crime fiction, the Willie Morrris award for best southern novel and was on the short list for an Edgar. It won several other awards that escape me. Tom is a great teacher (Ole Miss) and a really nice person. It has been terrific for his friends to see the nice guy hit one over the left field wall.
