I visit the library regularly to do my research on S. LA genealogy. Have to use the non-circ books mostly there. I do check out books when I want a read I don't already have at home. Getting a NOOK soon since you can check out ebooks through Jefferson Parish Library on your computer and sideload it to a NOOK. Woo hoo! Just trying to decide which NOOK I want. There are three now.

What I'm reading: Helmet for My Pillow, House Rules, No Ordinary Time:Franklink and Elenor Roosevelt. I would recommend The Warmth of Other Suns on Kindle. The book fascinated me.

Warmth of Other Suns was a huge eye-opener for me too.

The book chronicles the life story of three people who were part of the great migration of African-Americans to northern and western cities beginning approximately 1910 and ending around 1970. Having grown up in the urban south, rather than the rural south, it opened up my eyes to a lot things that I wasn't aware of. It's a subject that isn't written about very much in the popular press and I found the book fascinating.

I got it on Kindle, so you can go there for author, etc. Hope you like it.

Chawie,
When were you based in Thailand? I served a year's tour in Thailand with the Air Force in 1972-1973. It was a great experience. The people were beautiful. I learned to speak some of the Thai language. I loved the Thai food. I sent you a PM with the details.
