Hello everyone. Long time forum reader, first time poster.

Does anyone remember a children's amusement park called Kiddie Land? Or something like that? It would have been running some time during the early 80s (I was born in 1977). I think it was in Metairie--or somewhere in Jefferson Parish. I remember various kiddie rides--perhaps bumpers cars, a Ferris Wheel, etc. Anyone know when it closed? Thank you!

Welcome Aboard! Kiddieland was on the lakefront at Pontchartrain Beach amusement park which closed in 1983.

Hey, there, LA_girl. Welcome aboard!

Is that LA as in The Lala Land that's about to fall into the Pacific, or in God's Country on the beautiful Gulf Coast? If it's the former, your opposite on this forum is Maria, a NOLA native chef extraordinaire now living in Sonoma County. If it's the latter, you've got company here! PaulaRat and I moved from New Orleans to Richmond in '07 and then on to Vienna in '10. And VaPhil and VaBonnie are Virginians who visit New Orleans more often than some Metairians I've known :-)

Sorry I don't know anything about KiddieLand, but I think it was at Pontchartrain Beach in the 60's. CRAFT, ya know.

Didn't someone post an album of old Pont. Beach photos here recently? I remember seeing some shots of the Kiddieland rides.

Puddlechuck, LA stands for Louisiana. I grew up in St. Charles Parish. I'm now in Virginia, about 50 miles from DC.

Jerry--thanks for the picture. That does look familiar. Don't know why I thought it was in Metairie. We must have only visited Kiddie Land a few times, but I remember it vaguely. Skate Land, Show Biz (later Chuck E. Cheese), and the putt putt place (on Veterans?) were regular favorites when I was a kid. My mother has pictures somewhere--might need to look around the next time I visit.

Well, I guess either we were all right. Or, maybe, all wrong :-(

Hey, LA_Girl, come up and see us some time!
