David says about this photo: NGC4565, an edge on spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices. 31,000 light years distant. Also known as the Needle Galaxy. This is what our galaxy, the Milky Way, would look like edge on. In the center bulge lurks a super massive black hole.
