Cities desperate for help restoring electrical power (among other things), reject the help when it arrives.

Big Apple mayor pulls resources from storm aid efforts to set up and manage NYC Marathon. Storm displaced persons evicted from hotels to accommodate runners with reservations.

Remember the thought of cancelling Mardi Gras after Katrina? It went ahead, and was a boon to the city. But, MG was 5-6 months after the storm. I think New Yorks' mayor is wrong.

I think he's right, but I would be screaming if I lived in Beirut, oh, I mean Manhattan south of 39th Street.

Those good ol' boys from Bama tried to help, but it is what it is. I guess they'll just come on home now.

And they wonder why we call them damn yankees.
It was a New Jersey utility truck that got us going in Harahan after the storm though. Guess they can dish out help but can't take it.

In Friday's afternoon press conference, the NJ governator stated that "it was all a mistake" (after he had reemed the union leaders) and that "outside electrical help would be greatfully accepted". It has been reported that electric company trucks were seen from as far as Texas and Canada. It was further reported that the Alabama trucks moved on to Long Island where they received a warm welcome.

Italics comments are mine.
