I just came across this item from a facebook friend. What do you think - fact or fiction? I do drink too much diet soda though I have been leaning toward soda water lately.

Never mind, folks. I have just been to Snopes and the response by the FDA satisfies me at this time. The critical article goes back to 1998 originally and further support has not been forthcoming.

Avoid it.
Diet sodas taste awful to me.
I think they are addictive (Diet Coke especially) and do little towards helping a "diet".
Most people I see drinking them are overweight.
