LifeLock has been around many years as a protection for financial identify theft. What do you think of spending $10 or $15 per month for their services?

You don't know whether it is worth it until you need it of course. However we've subscribed for several years now and they certainly jump right on it if we open a new credit account or something; they send your credit reports and scores periodically; and for some reason email every time a sex offender moves into the neighbourhood. We also get notified of breaches such as the recent hack of Adobe records and are given advice on what next to do.

I'm tempted to subscribe after having my identity stolen twice now. Once through a job application and this time from Discover. Discover notified me my info was hacked and about 4 months later, my password was changed on my user account and I didn't get a bill one month. Guy paid his Verizon bill twice and got a cash advance of $200. Changed my address and e-mail. Funny thing is, I tracked the jerk down and Discover was like "okay, we'll look into it". From my first ordeal, I know they don't go after people who charge less than $500. But you would think since their system was hacked, they would go after this guy.

I feel better having it, I think. at $100/year the cost is small, and while they can't prevent anyone stealing your identity, the service can identify it very quickly and then - at least so they say - will put considerable resources forward for you to clear it all up.
