I do appreciate these no-cost forums and all the time and effort that Lake (and the moderators) put in to keep them going, but I gotta say I was blown away this evening, an hour after tucking my wife in, by an e-harmony video commercial that started blaring before its pause button had even come up on the screen. My computer is now on mute. Next time I will have to try to remember to do that before visiting the forums. Thank you for listening. I feel better now. (Suggested response: Thank you for sharing.)

Thank you for sharing. :D
However I do agree. The noisy intrusions are annoying That's why I try to keep my computer on mute.

Those mouseover sound activated ads are a plague. Anywhere.

I've never had that happen. Just lucky I guess.

Thank you for sharing. I also am very annoyed with any website audio that I did not initiate. I was not aware of any audio in ads on these forums and so did some checking...

From Google Adsense (the only ads used here):
"...the only AdWords ads with sounds are Video Ad Units (http://adwords.google.com/support/bin/a ... swer=66534). And those only play after a user has initiated it. We shouldn't have any other ads which play sounds automatically. If your users are reporting the same ad unit and they are sure it is coming from Google, please report it at adwords-support@google.com where the AdWords team can further investigate".

Please do let me know if this continues and I will submit a report.

There's an eHarmony ad right now that starts if you drag your mouse over its territory.

Looks like part of my problem is my ancient home desktop is so RAM-challenged that I must have inadvertently activated the mouse-over before the ad appeared on the screen. Lesson learned: Mute is a good thing. At the office I have a cheap pair of headphones plugged in to the docking station so I listen only to what I want to.
