Well, the pole is over, at RAVENS 4 - 49ERS 2.

Sharky and I took a little ride this afternoon, to the BOOMTOWN CASINO SPORTS BOOK. This is the first Hotel/Casino on Interstate 80, after you enter NEVADA from CALIFORNIA. It is exactly 4 miles from the border, and 9 miles before you hit downtown Reno. Observations follow:

1) The parking lot was "awash" with cars with California Plates!

2) At the Sports Book there were "pages" of betting sheets
denoting at least 50 to 100 different bets (maybe more)
that could be placed on "the big game". Winner, winner
by halves, winner by quarters, point combinations, 1st downs,
3rd down conversions, longest pass, longest run, longest TD,
longest FG, shortest TD, and on and on and on.

3) At the "desk" the individual betters were making bets totalling
hundreds of dollars for each player. Every bet I heard
(ease dropping) was for the 49er's (naturally, they were from CA).

Well, tomorrow will tell all. See you at 3:40 pm PST.

The report from Nevada was very interesting. Thanks, Art.

Looks like there is not much interest here in who wins or loses a game not involving the Saints!

Hard to believe the pre-game coverage lasts seven and a half hours, from 10:00 a.m. until the announced kickoff time of 5:30 p.m. I say "announced" kickoff time because I suspect the game may actually start somewhat later.

Speaking of time, I was about to go off on a big tangent, but decided to do so on a different board.

Well, it's all over, including the 100 hours of claimed CBS air time of coverage.

Congratulations Baltimore Ravens!

A first for me - I won every bet I made. Off to BOOMTOWN to collect.
